Education
- B.A. in Biological Aspects of Conservation, Political Science, anticipated May 2009.
Rachel is a senior in the College of Letters and Sciences expecting to graduate with Comprehensive Honors in Letters and Sciences and Biological Aspects of Conservation.
Research Interests
Rachel is interested in the intersection of politics and environmental science. After graduation, Rachel intends to work in the non-profit world of grassroots organizing before returning to graduate school to study environmental law or policy.
Research Experience
Rachel has conducted a research project on reverse fertilization in the Biocore Prairie restoration project in the UW Lakeshore Nature Preserve with Dr. Janet Batzli.
She is currently researching her senior honors thesis on carbon offsets, their (non)regulation in the US, and their ability to promote conservation.
In the Waller Lab, Rachel assists with research in the field and in the lab, including tasks such as processing plant specimens to collect data on plant traits, cleaning seeds, entering historical and current data, and researching information on plant traits in the literature.
Hobbies
In her free time, Rachel enjoys sailing, activism, cycling, and playing the cello.
