Powerful new 3D electron microscope to arrive in spring

Botany's Marisa Otegui and researchers from many departments across campus have joined forces to win funding from the NSF for a powerful new electron microscope that can produce high-resolution three-dimensional images. The microscope, which will be a shared resource for the campus, allows researchers to visualize cellular structures that would be difficult to capture with a standard two-dimensional electron microscope.
