Sheet 1 of 2. Colony of ca. 100 plants. The only plants of this species (and genus) seen along Hwy 61 between Soldiers Grove (Crawford Co.) and Lancaster (Grant Co). Strictly erect, to 2.3 m tall. Connate-perfoliate leaves with water in the cup from rain a couple days previously. Lowermost leaves on some plants only very shallow lobed; sterile rosettes with merely crenate leaves and these not prickly. Corolla white; anthers white.
