Habitat:  Rich Acer saccharum, Tilia, Quercus borealis woods with limestone cliffs and boulders. This is a very rich ungrazed Acer saccharum-Tilia americana on a moderate slope, with some Juglans nigra and Carya cordiformis near the bottom and Quercus borealis near the top. There is a 20 ft. high limestone cliff near the top of the slope and other outcrops and boulders also occur. Trees are in the 10-20" range, with the larger trees at the base of the cliff. Other associates include Aesculus glabra, Dirca palustris, Panax quinquefolius, Cacalia muhlenbergii, Dryopteris goldiana, Carpinus caroliniana, Trillium flexipes, Quercus alba, Cornus alternifolia, Sanicula trifoliata, Solidago flexicaulis, Asarum canadense, Osmorhiza longistylis, Mitella diphylla, Polymnium canadensis, Caulophyllum thalictroides, Actaea rubra, Actaea pachypoda, Adiantum pedatum, Laportea canadensis, Circaea quadrisulcata, Desmodium glutinosum, Amphicarpa bracteata, Phryma leptostachya, Staphylea trifolia, Brachyeletrum
