Habitat:  Northern mesic forest on undulating pockmarked ground. Acer saccharum dominant, with ample Betula papyrifera, some Tsuga canadensis, very little Pinus strobus. Additional field notes for Cochrane & Cochrane 7518-7529: Understory seemingly depauperate (no Polygonatum, Uvularia, Smailacina, Viola or Aralia and very little Maianthemum, Trientalis, or Cornus canadensis); present are Oryzopsis asperifolia,
 
Text:  Carex arctata, C. pendunculata, Clintonia borealis, Actaea rubra, Dirca palustris, Pyrola elliptica, Diervilla lonicera, Acer rubrum seedlings and Rubus parviflorus & R. strigosus in the deeper depressions.
