Habitat:  Growing in fen / calcareous wet prairie. Growing in a seep which stretches from the edge of the surrounding upland into the wetland. the seep is slightly raised compared to the surrounding sedge meadow. Associates include: Carex pellita, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Potentilla fruticosa, Carex tetanica, Cornus stolonifera, Betula glandulifera, Carex prairea, Solidago ohioensis, Galium borale, Eriophorum angustifolium, Cirsium muticum, Muhlenbergia mexicana, Aster novae-angliae,
