Habitat:  A) Virgin beech-sugar maple woods with some Ulmus americana and Quercus rubra. A rich understory. and B) Ostrya virginiana and Ulmus species woods associated with above. The understory is much the same except that grasses and sedges are present here. N slope and silt loam soil [2 habitat choices indicated]
