Habitat:  Steep N facing slope and cliffs below top of sandstone and calcareous outcrops & cliffs. Shaded by young canopy of Tilia americana, Populus tremuloides, Carpinus caroliniana, with Taxus canadensis, Asarum canadense, Camptosorus rhizophyllus,. Adiantum pedatum.
