Habitat:  Floodplain forest with Acer saccharinum, Ulmus americana (now mostly dead fron Dutch Elm disease), Populus deltoides, Xanthoxylum americanum.
 
Text:  Tree, originally 12m. tall, 0.5m. in dia., for many years fallen over w/ main trunk on ground, side branches growing upward, now up to 10m. tall. Abundantly flowering. Filaments pale pink, hanging. Anthers red before anthesis. Nearby female (16717).
