Habitat:  Pastured floodplain forest, Acer saccharinum, A. negundo, Quercus ellipsoidalis, Q. macrocarpa, Salix nigra, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Populus tremuloides, young Ulmus americana.
 
Text:  Tree 50cm in diameter. Twigs with rank smell when scraped. Flower buds and flowers red. Wood from a large branch; sapwood and heartwood pale, the same color. Voucher for wood specimen. MADw 46578
